Sangeetha Shankar

Sangeetha Shankar is a multi-talented method actress, female model, and ethnic dancer currently residing in New Jersey. 

Born and raised in Chennai, India, she showed artistic aptitude, sensitivity and creativity from an early age.  Inspired by her elementary school English teacher she began to study the dramatic arts and native ethnic dance.  She was soon performing roles in children's theatre and participating in dance recitals. Sangeetha also excelled at character development and her grandmother taught her about fashion, sewing and stitching.  These talents came in handy as she began to enter the world of modeling and fashion as a young teen. 

While in her formative high school years she also became interested in holistic health, yoga, and science.  She modeled for local projects including for pharmaceutical companies. 

Sangeetha holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Madras in Chennai, India. During her university years, Sangeetha became interested in classical drama, with emphasis on the Elizabethan and Jacobean period and the works of William Shakespeare. 

After university, she married and gave birth to a son.  For many years her family became her number one priority. Yet her married life also led to world travel and exploration of other cultures and involvement in their arts communities.  Sangeetha has lived in Chicago, and even in Singapore for a time. 

With her son entering adulthood, Sangeetha has been devoting her time pursuing her dream as a career in film and television acting, modeling and classical ethnic dance.  She is currently studying method and classical acting, dialects, modeling and voiceover with noted acting coach and artist developer Dr. James Spencer of Spencer Artist Development and through him has enrolled in acting certification classes with the the University of West London. 

A renaissance woman, her other talents and hobbies include: gardening, painting, knitting, hiking, dancing and interior design and home repairs. Sangeetha is also spiritual and practices the art of yoga, and takes spiritual pilgrimages to her motherland to visit temples and to practice meditation. 

Sangeetha Shankar is currently available for commercial work, television and film projects, and modeling print work and runway.
